RUFC - Midfielder on his move to the Millers

Rotherham United`s latest signing, Michael O`Connor said he only needed ten minutes to make his mind up to come to the Millers.

Speaking to MillersPlayer the twenty-four year old defender said, 'I spoke to Steve Evans last week and after just ten minutes of speaking to him I thought this club is going places. He showed me round the stadium and my mind was made up.

'Yes, it was a step down to League Two but everyone I spoke to about Rotherham United said they are going places and, in the next four or five years, it will be a Championship club.

Speaking about the New York Stadium, Michael said, 'It`s decent and hopefully, in three years, it will be extended when we are in the Championship, but it`s already a Championship stadium and it will be good to play in every week.`

Asked what he will bring to the Millers, the former Crewe and Scunthorpe player said, 'I`m a box-to-box midfielder. I score goals and was scoring in the Championship a few years ago. I get a few assists as well and I`ve got experience so hopefully I`ll bring something to the team to help us to the top of the league.`

Asked about his International career with Ireland, the sixth signing of pre-season said, 'At the minute I`m just concentrating getting Rotherham into League One then hopefully into the Championship.`
