On this day last year, Manager Andy Scott, was thrilled that Jamie Annerson, Ollie Banks and Dale Tonge had all signed extensions to their contracts.

The Millers also found out that they would be playing Huddersfield Town in a pre-season friendly at Don Valley

There was a blow for the Millers when the club confirmed that striker, Ryan Taylor, had broken a bone (metatarsal) in his little toe in a training ground accident and that he would be ruled out for at least four months.

Three years ago today, Football League Clubs voted to introduce new financial regulations relating to tax payments, which, in laymen`s terms, more or less meant that any club that falls behind with its employee related payments to HMRC will be subject to a transfer embargo until such time as the debt is cleared.

Meanwhile, Millers Manager, Mark Robins, was pleased to have signed Nicky Law junior a couple of days earlier saying he was 'happy to have Nicky on board.'

The Millers new signing, Mark Burchill, said he hadn't come to 'sit on his bum'.
I'm ambitious, I want to play and I want to achieve,' the former Scottish international said.

The rumour was that the Millers would be training at the Keepmoat Stadium, home of Doncaster Rovers for the foreseeable future.

On this day five years ago the draw for the Carling Cup took place and saw us drawn against Sheffield Wednesday at Millmoor. Millers Assistant Manager, John Breckin, said he was 'delighted' with the prospect of the local rivals coming to Millmoor while Lee Bullen, Owls defender and captain said, 'It's great to get a derby game so early in the season and it's excellent for the fans as there's no extra travelling to be done.'

Also on this day defender, Gregor Robertson, signed a two-year deal with Chesterfield.

Six years ago on Vital Rotherham we were all sending out best wishes to England as they competed in the World Cup in Italy. England won two and drew one of the Group games before beating Ecuador, one-nil to reach the quarter finals. The game saw Wayne Rooney red carded on sixty-two minutes and England lose three-one on penalties after the game was still nil-nil after extra-time.
