RUFC - Stewart 'Evans is no Marmite man'

Rotherham United Chairman Tony Stewart is hoping that Manager, Steve Evans will provide the missing ingredient that will bring the Millers success.

Evans is the fourth manager since Mr Stewart took over at the club (he inherited Mark Robins, brought Ronnie Moore back, fetched in Andy Scott plus had various caretakers) and says he wants someone who can last the distance.

Encouraged from what he has seen of his new manager, Mr Stewart told The Advertiser, 'Steve isn`t a Marmite man. People love him and, like everyone else at the club, he means business.

'We had the younger guy in Mark Robins, the experienced in Ronnie Moore and back to the younger guy in Andy Scott who was hard working but maybe the motivation was lacking, which is something Steve Evans has got.`

Many eyebrows were raised when Mr Stewart announce Steve Evans as the Manager of Rotherham United and message boards and social networking sites were on overload as people mostly showed their disapproval. But, the 'big` Scot has turned the fans around not only with the players he`s bringing to the club but also with his willingness to stop and talk and include the fans in what he`s doing at Rotherham United. Which is something I can`t ever remember happening before - and long may it last!
