RUFC - Is it fair to 'sting' fans who live away

Rotherham United are charging £2 more for paying on the day of a match.

Now, is this fair do we think?

There are people who live away from Rotherham and, also because of that, don't get season tickets and yet will be punished for wanting to pay on the day. It would, I am sure, cost them more having to make two trips to the Ticket Office (which I presume will be moving to the New York Stadium) than paying the extra £2 - actually, with the bus fares as they are it would cost me over £4 to get £2 off a ticket.

I think I can understand why the club are doing this - because the more people who go for an 'early bird' ticket during the week means they will have to have less people (meaning less wages?) at the ticket office on the match day itself.

And, let's not forget, it's not only Rotherham United who do this. We've been stung at some away grounds in the past where it's been more expensive on the day. And, it's not only football. I recently visited New York (the original one!) and found out we paid quite a bit more for our visit up the Empire State Building than some others who had bought their tickets in advance.

Maybe someone should start a 'group' for people who live away for Rotherham, where one person goes and buys all the tickets needed - which would incur just one visit by one person. Then, on the day of the match, arrange to meet somewhere to collect the tickets. Just a thought.

But, is it fair?

What do you think?
