RUFC - On This Day in the Past - 4th July

Just a quick look back at the last few years on this day .....

4th July 2011

It was on this day last year that Lewis Grabban signed in saying it was an easy decision for him to make to move to the Millers.

On this day last year, Troy Brown was pleased to have got his deal sorted to join Rotherham United and was hoping to grow with the club.

We found out that former Miller Jamie Green was having trials with Bradford City.

4th July 2010

We were getting into the final stages of the World Cup and on Vital Rotherham we found Noggin at the top of the top of our Prediction League, with MV and Zip close on his heels.

Ronnie Moore said he had a difficult decision ahead of the new season on who to start in the left-back position - either Stephen Brogan, Jamie Green or new boy Tom Newey.

4th July 2009

Three years ago we had a 'question and answer' session with poster Handy Haddock who was convinced the Millers would finish 'top of the tree'. He told us that his favourite ground he'd been to was Wembley and the least favourite Loftus Road because it was like being in a 'shoe box'.

Meanwhile, Millers Manager, Mark Robins, was telling us that the next season would be 'interesting'.

4th July 2008

We were keeping our fingers crossed that we would be starting the next season on even footing with the rest of the League Two teams after a meeting had been cancelled due to the creditors wanted more information and the application to move grounds being sent later than expected to the Football League.

The club staff had moved into the offices at Barbot Hall this week and Rotherham United's Chief Administration Officer, Paul Douglas, said that this move had brought all the staff together under one roof saying that it had been difficult to communicate at Millmoor with people being housed in different offices.

The Millers had a young trialist on loan from Everton called Stephen Connor.

4th July 2007

Carlisle United boss, Neil McDonald, thought that Derek Holmes moving to the Millers was a great move for the Scottish forward saying he let him go because he couldn't guarantee Holmes a regular start.

4th July 2006

It was on this day six years ago that Millers Manager, Alan Knill, completed the signing of strike Delroy Facey from Tranmere Rovers.

It was also thought that Paul Hurst was about to sign a new two-year contract.
