RUFC - Ground will be ready for friendlies

Rotherham United are set to move into their new home, The New York Stadium, on Monday, 16th July just a few days before the first ever game will take place there.

The Millers entertain South Yorkshire neighbours Barnsley in a pre-season friendly on the following Saturday (21st July) with games against Doncaster Rovers, Heart of Midlothian and Sheffield United coming soon after.

The club had hoped to be moved into the New York Stadium on 11th July but this has not been put back five days with Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas telling Radio Sheffield that the ground will be ready for football but there will still be background work left to do such as flood alleviation work and not all admin staff will move over from Barbot Hall.

There had been rumours, last month, that the ground wouldn't be ready until the start and even further into the season which the club has never backed up and I think this statement, from Mr Douglas, has put paid to such rumours.
