'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Gaffer thanks fans

Rotherham United Manager, Steve Evans has thanked the fans who turned up at Parkgate yesterday.

He said he was staggered by the line of supporters he saw waiting for pre-season tickets at 8am yesterday morning as he drove past Barbot Hall and wants to thank each and everyone of them.

Steve, not his usual bubbly self, explained that he kept away from people yesterday as he still isn`t one hundred per cent fit and didn`t want to pass on any germs.

He thought that, at times, the quality of football was a joy to watch yesterday and thought that the scoreline could have been doubled (!) but said it wasn`t about that and that they achieved their aim of giving most players forty-five minutes on the pitch and there were no injuries afterwards.

In his usual Gaffer on Sunday on the Official Site, the Millers boss said that he was expecting more new arrivals before the start of the season but wouldn`t be signing players just for the sake of it.

Speaking about the training camp in the Algarve this week, Steve said that the lads would get some sunshine but they would also be training twice a day which includes Wednesday when they will also be playing a game. With the warmer weather he said that they can step up the intensity of the training and take the lads to the next level of fitness.
