'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Evans 'A lot more to come'

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans thought his Millers side could have beaten Championship Barnsley by more than two-one in the first ever game at the New York Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Looking red-faced from the sunshine at the game the Millers Boss spoke to MillersPlayer after the game saying, 'We played some terrific football against Keith Hill`s Championship side which, over the ninety minutes, was full strength. There were periods of the game when we had to dig in and I think it was a great game to watch.`

Steve said he thought the team, as a unit, was coming together, 'We had a few days away last week in Portugal and the players will tell you it wasn`t a holiday there was a lot of hard work done and a good win over a good Oldham side which is well managed by Paul Dickov.

'I think we are still a long way away from where we need to be but it`s a great start and it`s great for the fans and, if anyone wants to know why Steve Evans left a great club with good owners and great supporters to come to here, then you only had to be here today and see the stadium and the support.

'I want to say a big, big thank you to the fans and for them to get used to this because there`s a lot more to come.`
