'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Andy honoured to lead team out

Rotherham United Goalkeeper, ,b>Andy Warrington said he was honoured to wear the armband for the game against his former club Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night.

'It was a nice touch by the gaffer,` the shot stopper told The Advertiser, 'and a few hairs stood up on the back of my neck as we came down the tunnel. It was a great honour to lead the team out in my first ever game there.

'I have to say the response from both the Rotherham and Donny fans was fantastic and it was a perfect first game for me - to win and have a good reception from both sets of fans you can`t really argue with that.

The last time Andy was captain was an away game at Chester in January 2008 which the Millers also won and prompted the thirty-six year old to say, 'that`s two games and two wins. If I never captain the side again, I`m fine with that.`

Speaking about the New York Stadium Andy said, 'It`s unbelievable and everything it was built up to be, it is. With respect to Don Valley, it`s been like playing reserve games there for four years because you couldn`t hear anything. But here you hear everything because it`s all enclosed. It`s a great place to play football and it`s great to be part of it.`
