RUFC - Former Miller joins the Iron

Former Rotherham United defender, Tom Newey has been signed by former Millers player and manager Alan Knill for Scunthorpe today.

Newey, who was having trials with the Iron, was let go by the Millers at the end of last season.

Born in Sheffield the twenty-nine year old was in the Youth squad at Leeds United and had loan spells with various clubs before signing for Leyton Orient in July 2003. After a loan spell with Cambridge he signed for the U`s towards the end of the 2004/5 season before joining Grimsby Town, where he appeared more than one hundred and fifty times, in June 2005. In August 2009 Alan Knill signed him for Bury and moved to the Millers from Gigg Lane in the summer of 2010.

All at Vital Rotherham wish Tom all the best in his future at Glanford Park.
