RUFC - 'Big Spending Millers' tag upsets Evans

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans is annoyed at the 'big spending Rotherham` tag his club has got since he took over.

Yes, the Millers have got ten new players and yes the club have moved into a brand new stadium but Evans hasn`t paid anything, yet, for any of the players he`s fetched in and the ground is thanks to the good sense of the Chairman.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post the Millers Boss said, 'When I read other managers come out and say: 'Big-spending Rotherham` when clubs like Bradford are spending good money and it`s hinted they got (Alan) Connell on a free, then do me a favour!, I do get annoyed. But at the end of the day, we`ll treat it with the contempt it deserves.`

It`s not that the Millers haven`t got money to spend on new recruits and, if things had gone right, Evans would have probably broken the Millers` record transfer fees but as it stands it`s 'players in` ten 'monies out` nil.

And I don`t think Steve Evans is the sort of man who will suffer fools gladly and he himself says he won`t spend good money unless he is confident he is getting better than is already there. So, we know, like has have happened in the past, we won`t be getting players in just for the sake of it - which can`t be a bad thing can it.
