RUFC - Evans 'Saturday big match of the day'

Rotherham United Manager, Steve Evans says that he is relishing the start of the football season.

The Millers play their first game back in Rotherham, the first time for four years, and, although there have been the pre-season friendlies, now we are getting down to the proper business of the league and aiming for promotion.

With the game against Burton Albion at the New York Stadium in mind, the Millers Boss told the Official Football League Site, 'I was with some other Football League managers the other day and they were saying this is the big match of the day and it is notorious in football that a new ground opens and someone turns up and steals the show. But, we have a number of players who can comfortably play in front of a big crowd although they have to go out and perform because three points is just as important in August as it is in the run-in.`

With everyone expecting the Millers to do well this season and promotion talk rife around the town, I`m hoping this won`t make the players a little nervous at the first game. It is going to be a big crowd with the Millers all but selling out of tickets and it is important that we do well - but is it the end of the world if we don`t win? How much difference would it be to draw on Saturday then win our next four games? Me, I go with the philosophy if I don`t expect it then I`m not disappointed if it doesn`t happen.
