RUFC - Kari NOT for Sale

Rotherham United Manager, Steve Evans says that, despite interest from other clubs, defender, Kari Arnason is NOT for sale.

Speaking to MillersPlayer the Millers Boss said he hoped Kari hadn`t had any ill-effects from going 'back home` and playing for his country. 'The Chairman had a phone call yesterday and he could be four or five thousand pounds richer by selling Kari Arnason, who we got a few weeks ago for nothing, but that bid was dismissed as soon as it came in. We brought Kari here to be part of something and we love the kid and he`s not even played a competitive game yet.

Asked about fetching in more players, Steve said, 'The type of striker we want now is a proven goal scorer and Paul Douglas is speaking to two particular clubs to try and do something but it won`t be in time for Saturday and probably not for Tuesday either.`

Asked about Danny Schofield, who Steve told wasn`t really in his plans for the coming season, he said, 'We keep having enquiries for Danny but then he keeps turning up for training! He`s getting treated very professionally and I can`t fault his work rate in training but we made it clear to him in April that he won`t be part of our team going forward and that`s simply because of the way the team shapes up. Danny is a very skilled midfield player and maybe another manager and chairman will see him as part of their squad.`
