'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - 'People will be disappointed that we won'

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans says that there will be a lot of disappointed people after we won our first league game of the season on Saturday against Burton Albion.

Speaking after the three-nil win to the Official Football League Site, the Millers jubilant boss said, 'We knew this was going to be a big occasion and a full house and for the first twenty minutes we were outstanding but, to be fair to Burton, they had a good spell in the twenty minutes leading up to half-time and we were happy to go in at the interval two-nil up.'

Speaking about the season, Evans said, 'We know how tough it's going to be and we have to remain as one both in the dressing room and out on the pitch. There will be a lot of disappointed people in the country when they see we have won.'

I think there will too - we are having an exciting time as Millers fans and there is always someone trying to bring you down to earth. Which is why we have to keep t he excitement going. We lost to Championship Hull City in the Capital One Cup but I don't think many will disagree that we should have won and it took penalties for them to beat us. After going two up yesterday I thought some of our players took their foot off the pedal for fifteen minutes or so and, let's be honest, with past Millers teams that would have been it and we'd have thrown away the lead. But not this team, not Steve Evans' lads. They sorted it out and came out like whirlwinds in the second half.

And I'm loving that!
