RUFC - Evans 'win for Ronnie'

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans has an ambition this weekend - and that`s to beat rivals Chesterfield. Oh yes, he wants to win every game the Millers play but he wants to beat the Spireites for the fans, the Chairman and for former boss Ronnie Moore.

The last time the Millers went to the B2Net, as it was then, will probably be remembered by Rotherham fans as being one of the lowest times as a supporter. It was a Friday evening and live on TV and the Millers had lost one and drawn three of their previous games. Really needing to get something out of this game being three-nil down at half-time wasn`t really in the plans so losing five-nil was a disaster. It was also the day that Tony Stewart said 'enough was enough` and saw fit to sack Ronnie Moore a couple of days later.

Speaking to David Beddows of the Rotherham Advertiser Steve Evans said, 'I know how much Ronnie Moore cares for this club and that defeat hurt him. And, when I was at Boston we lost at home six-nil to Grimsby, so I know how he feels so it will be nice to win and speak to him on Saturday night to tell him a bit of that was for you. But, ultimately we want to win for our supporters and the Chairman.

'It`s a derby and there are local bragging rights at stake so we have to be in the trenches at three o`clock ready for battle. We are going to fill the away end and I would ask every single supporter to get behind us.`
