RUFC - Evans 'what an atmosphere'

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans said that today's win over Bradford City was an 'outstanding performance'.

Speaking to MillersPlayer after the four-nil win, the Millers Boss said, 'This was a big, big game and we'd have settled for one-nil but we got four and, on another day, it could have been more.

'We have to remind ourselves that we got fantastic individual goals in the first half performance that maybe, at other times, one would have hit the post and gone out and the goalie saving the other. But, we know if we play like that and stay focused and play as a group then we've got a chance. I thought our front two were incredible today and never stopped running and won the battle against the two big centre-halves.

'We've been disappointed in the points return against the performances with anyone going to Northampton knowing we should have won there, I don't think there's anyone who thinks we shouldn't still be in the Capital One Cup and I don't think there's anyone who was in the ground who though we shouldn't have won with the second half at Chesterfield.'

Having a word about his skipper, Ian Sharps Evans said, 'The big man fractured his hand in training this week and has been in pain most of the week but being the gentleman and polite gaffer that I am I kept him in training and kept giving him pain killers and he kept looking at me and saying it was sore and he had to stop training and I said 'you're in the trenches son you don't pull out of the trenches'. He walked in today and said he wanted to play, I played him and I thought he was outstanding.'

The Boss also said that the winners tonight are not only the team but the Rotherham United supporters and also the Chairman, Tony Stewart who put it all together and said, 'What an atmosphere!

'After Burton if people want to know why we came here today was a further demonstration and it's going to be all season because the New York Stadium is going to be rocking.'
