RUFC - O'Connor glad to score

Rotherham United midfielder Michael O'Connor said that he is feeling back to his full fitness after playing nearly all the game on Saturday.

Speaking to MillersPlayer the Northern Ireland International said, 'I'd done well in training this week and the gaffer played me for ninety minutes in the reserve game against Bury in mid-week. He put me in today and I'm glad he did.

'The gaffer and I spoke on Monday and I told him I preferred to play in the middle so he gave me that chance today and I think I've done alright.'

Speaking about the 'wonder' goal he scored in the opening minutes of the game on Saturday Michael said, 'As soon as I got the ball from Prings (Ben Pringle) I knew I had to strike it and, to be fair, I caught it sweet and the 'keeper was nowhere near it. Scoring in the first minute was important to kick-start the game and I'm glad it was me who got it!'
