RUFC - Mullins 'been a kick up the backside'

Rotherham United Midfielder Johnny Mullins admits that, on Saturday, defensively they were all at sea.

The Millers were four goals down within the first half-an-hour at Vale Park and although they pulled two back they eventually lost six-two. It was only Johnny`s second game from coming back from injury and he was pushed into defence early on when Mark Bradley went off injured.

Speaking to Les Payne of The Star the twenty-six year old said, 'How much lower can you get than a 6-2 defeat for a club of our stature at this level? We were shell-shocked and the feeling afterwards was a massive difference to the week before. We`ll have to store this feeling because you don`t want to experience it again. It`s been one hell of a kick up the backside.

'Obviously we thought we were better than we were and there`s no hiding the fact that it simply wasn`t good enough and if you take your foot off the pedal you get punished.

'It will take a lot of hard work this week but we have to prove we are better than that and the only way to address it will be against Torquay on Saturday.`
