What were the Millers doing on 12th September in the past ....

Monday 12th September 2011

Rotherham United might have beaten Dagenham and Redbridge at the weekend on this day last year, but Manager Andy Scott says that the Millers didn't play that well in the second half. 'It was pleasing that we played well for nearly all the forty-five minutes of the first half but very frustrating when we go back out and don`t replicate that in the second half.' He also said that the players had been practising defending from set-pieces and said, 'It doesn`t matter how much work you do its about players and whether players can mark the man that they`ve got. We know the culprits and if people are losing their markers its a problem.'

Scott also went on to speak about the new partnership up front of Alex Revell and Lewis Grabban saying that although it can take time to gel good players can always play together.

Meanwhile Skipper, Ryan Cresswell, said that he wanted to make Don Valley a fortress and that other teams should really hate coming there.

Sunday 12th September 2010

On this day two years ago Manager Ronnie Moore was reflecting on his side losing a three-nil lead and having to hang on for a point against Burton Albion at Don Valley. He did concede that the Millers were somewhat lucky to go in at half-time three up because they were never in the game but, in the end, said 'We might be looking back at this and say it was a good point.'

Saturday 12th September 2009

Steve Thornber was in charge of this game where the Millers failed to score at Don Valley for the first time in the season as they were held to a nil-nil draw by Morecambe.

Before the game striker Adam Le Fondre said that everyone was 'totally focussed' on the game ahead.

Friday 12th September 2008

On this day in 2008 Chairman Tony Stewart told us that, although there were no drawings, the new stadium was on schedule. 'We are having monthly stadium steering committee meetings and everything is positive,' Mr Stewart said.

Midfielder Micky Cummins was finding it difficult to get into the side, after joining in the summer, saying, 'You have to get used to new surroundings and to be honest it's been difficult. You can play in training and in the Reserves but it's playing ninety minutes of first team action where you really get your form and confidence.'

Meanwhile, back in the commercial world, the Millers launched their online shop.

Wednesday 12th September 2007

With Steve Cann going to be out for up to four months Millers Manager Mark Robins got in goalkeeper Jamie Annerson on loan from neighbours Jamie Annerson. It was also thought that Robins was looking for a striker.

Five years ago Vital Rotherham interviewed Ian Sharps. We asked him what made him join the Millers and he replied, 'Alan Knill showed a keen interest and it was a chance to stop in League One.'
He said that, then, the best players he played with were Jason Koumas and Ryan Taylor who he played with at Tranmere Rovers while Nicolas Anelka and Teddy Sherringham were the best he'd played against.
Asked what, realistically, his ambitions were at Millmoor, Sharpsy said, 'firstly to get promotion but personally to play every game and score more than five goals.'
We asked who the comedian in the Millmoor camp was and the reply was 'Andy Todd - you only have to look at him!'

Tuesday 12th September 2006

The Millers beat Tranmere Rovers at Millmoor by two goals to one. Lee Williamson opened the scoring for Rotherham on eighteen minutes with a certain Kevin Ellison equalising for the visitors ten minutes later. Another ten minutes on and Will Hoskins made it two-one.

Tuesday 12th September 2000

On this day twelve years ago the Millers travelled to the Racecourse Ground to take on Wrexham. Paul Warne scored an early goal for the Millers on two minutes with Rob Scott adding a second eleven minutes into the second half. Warney got his second and the Millers third ten minutes from time with Hector Sam getting a consolation for the home side just before the end of the game.

Saturday 12th September 1998

After losing at Millmoor to Plymouth the Tuesday before the Millers went all out at Brentford and won three-nil with goals from Gary Martindale, Danny Hudson and Darren Garner.

Tuesday 12th September 1995

A goal from Mike Jeffrey in the second half gave the Millers a win at Millmoor against Bristol Rovers.
