Rotherham United`s Assistant Manager Paul Raynor said that the three points gained today was for Steve Evans.
Speaking after the narrow one-nil win over Torquay, Raynes told MillersPlayer, 'It was a big result for the players and a massive result for the gaffer and I`m delighted for him. We all know he should be here today but he`s not and he`s spoke about people throwing bombs in our camp well we`ve just defused one and we`ve got to try and defuse a few more between now and when he`s back.
'After conceding so many goals last week at Port Vale it was massively important that we got a clean sheet today and I`m delighted for Scott Shearer and the back four especially Nicky Hunt who`s hardly had any football and Dale Tonge who`s come from oblivion and probably only had forty-five minutes football since last season. It just shows you how much work that Denis Circuit and Paul Warne put in that these lads can come straight back and play. And, when you can have an international missing in Kari (Arnason) and bring in another in Craig Morgan then it shows what backing the Chairman has given us.
'Teams are going to come here and sit off and try and hit us on the break but the good thing was they didn`t really have too many sniffs at goal.
'This time last week we were on the floor so it was a big win for us today.`
Asked if he`d spoken to Steve Evans at all, Paul said, 'I`ve spoken to Steve throughout the game. We managed to get a local link to him and he`s sat and watched the game so he`s had a live feed to the action. So, it was business as usual so to speak, I just didn`t have him in close proximity but he was certainly on the end of the phone and we chatted through things. But we`d gone through every scenario that might happen anyway so we pretty much knew what we wanted to do.`
