RUFC - Striker 'only ourselves to blame'

Rotherham United forward Daniel Nardiello was gutted after the result against Rochdale didn't go the way he wanted.

'When you're two-one up with twenty minutes to go we really should have gone on and killed the game off,' he told Radio Sheffield.

'We were on the momentum and really going for it and the penalty killed us. But even so it was still two-two and we should have kicked on so we've really only got ourselves to blame that we didn't get the three points.

'In the second half we showed a lot more of what we can do. We got two goals and attacked well but we let ourselves down and everyone else down.'

Danny came off the bench during the second half with the Dale leading one-nil but within two minutes of him coming on Alex Revell equalised and then he himself got a second. Speaking about his goal, the twenty-nine year old said, 'It's good to get on the score sheet but I'd definitely take the three points over that. Ian Sharps did brilliantly to head it across goal and I got the second goal and we honestly thought that we'd go on and get a couple more.

'We've got a great squad here and the strikers have got a few goals between us so we're all vying for those two spots up front. Each striker we've got here can do different things - the two big lads are strong and powerful and win headers and Kieran (Agard) has got the pace. I think we are all capable of doing it and with the Gaffer picking different players depending who we are playing, it's all healthy for us to have to fight for a place and if we're all scoring we can't complain.

'We've not won two on the bounce yet but we've shown in spells how good we are. We've got to go into every game believing we can win and go to Barnet on Saturday and get three points.'

Me, I'd start Nardiello on Saturday. This lad has pace and skill and has shown how he can get goals.
