RUFC - Evans 'plenty to play for'

Former Rotherham United Manager Alan Knill brought a Scunthorpe team over to Rotherham this week for a private friendly and got chatting to Millers Manager Steve Evans.

Speaking to Les Payne of The Star Evans said Knilly asked him 'how are you managing the expectation level here?` because he`d never known anything like it in Rotherham before.`

'The expectation comes from a combination of things the stadium, the chairman, the management team leaving elsewhere to come here and some of the players we`ve signed,` Evans said. 'First and foremost it will take time because of the number of new players there are. But we`ll deal with it.

'Plenty of people had us down for favourites at the start of the season and I`m not going to go against that view even if people do point out where we are albeit with just seven games played. We`ve only just started the season and there`s plenty to play for.`

To be fair to Evans the Millers haven`t really had the chance to put, what you would think, is a full strength side out, with the injuries and international call up. But, I suppose, over the season this works itself out and hopefully we`re getting over the injuries now and can push on from here and start to get a winning run going.
