'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Tubbs the Bournemouth View

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans now says that he has finally (again) given up on getting striker Matt Tubbs to the New York Stadium.

With Tubbs starting just his second game of the season for Bournemouth last Tuesday and scoring his second goal in two games, he is much in Cherries` Manager Paul Groves` mind.

Speaking to the Daily Echo, Bournemouth Chairman Eddie Mitchell admitted that there was a possibility that the striker could have joined up again with this former Manager Evans saying, 'I spoke to Steve Evans and said that if Tubbsy wasn`t going to feature over the next few weeks, we would consider letting him go on loan. At the moment, though, he is very much in our plans. We need goals and he can provide them, so he is staying here.`

Speaking about Evans, Mr Mitchell said, 'He`s been pestering me for ages and I said we might let him go as long as they paid his wages and he wasn`t going to play for us. Then he featured for us and did well and I would imagine he will feature against Swindon.`

I`d like to now think we`ve put the Tubbs/Bournemouth/Rotherham story to bed and hope our management get on with looking elsewhere for a striker if that`s what they think is needed.

Somehow, though, I can see this story popping up again and again
