'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Raynor 'slow start cost us'

Rotherham United's Assistant Manager Paul Raynor said that he thought it was the slow start that cost the Millers all three points at the Underhill Stadium yesterday afternoon.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the nil-nil draw with Barnet, Raynor said, 'I thought we stood off Barnet for the first fifteen or twenty minutes and couldn't get a foothold into the game. We didn't start the game on the front foot which is something we have to do. They've not been playing too well of late and I think if we'd started better the nervousness that we saw in them in the second half would have come earlier.

'Barnet did have a lot of confidence on the ball which, I think, came from our lack of pressure on the ball as opposed to anything they were doing. But give them credit they were comfortable in possession but didn't really hurt us too much

'The way we start the games away from home has been disappointing and we need to do that better and be on the front foot as we are in the second half of games. We made the changes to be positive and turned it round a bit and got into the game a little bit more and I think we dominated the second half.'
