'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - One Rule for One and One for Another?

Rotherham United Assistant Manager Paul Raynor has been communicating with Manager Steve Evans for the last three games via mobile phone, as Evans is under a stadium ban.

So Raynes was very surprised when he was told, before the Barnet game on Saturday, that he wasn't allowed to use a mobile phone in the technical area.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the stalemate at Underhill on Saturday, Raynes said, 'It's very surprising because I see it every week in the Premier League and every week on the Football League Show when managers can communicate from the stand to the bench.

'But, apparently, Rotherham United's Steve Evans can't do that with the bench at the start of the game. But, at half-time I got clarification and apparently you can.

'There's a lot of things conspiring against us at the moment and we are getting very frustrated by it. It's not even a rule but they seem to have made it up for Rotherham United so we are bitterly disappointed.

Asked if Steve was frustrated, Raynes said, 'At the least and I'm not surprised because it's week in and week out.'

It seems like it's one rule for one and one for another. Let's just think back to Paolo di Canio and his trip to Don Valley last season. He'd been given, yet another, touchline ban but not only could he sit in the stands to watch the game he could speak to his bench on the phone and also go in the dressing rooms before the game, at half-time and after the game.

Doesn't seem quite fair does it
