'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Prings 'be patient'

Rotherham United midfielder Ben Pringle admits that he was a bit surprised when the Millers were named as favourites to win League Two before a ball had even been kicked.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser the former Derby County player said, 'I don`t know why people had said that we`re favourites. No-one had seen us play. Just because we`d made a few signings they all jumped on it saying we were going to win the league. It`s a bit like the England team in a way. When they go into a tournament everyone bigs them up and then gets disappointed.

'We don`t listen to the hype we just play our own way and see what happens. We want to get promoted but it`s pointless all the fans thinking we are going to do it and if they think we are going to win every game, it`s obviously not going to happen. And no-one gets promoted after ten games - there are another thirty-odd to play.

'Some people are panicking and think we aren't doing this and that but let`s not forget we've got a brand new team and ten or eleven new signings. So, it`s not going to happen overnight. People need to relax a bit and trust the gaffer and the players and I`d just say to the fans be patient.`

Good words from the young man. I think because we started well there were some people thinking we were going to walk this league. Well, in my opinion, League Two is always a hard division to get out of and it doesn't matter how many new faces you parade before the season they've all got to fit in and do their bit.

Ben Pringle has done well this season and it makes you wonder why the former manager couldn't see or get the work rate out of him that Steve Evans has done. Saying that - I`m not sure about the headband, Prings!
