RUFC - Raynor praise for Shearer

Rotherham United's Assistant Manager Paul Raynor was quite nonchalant when asked about Scott Shearer's saves today, which, probably kept us in the game.

'That's what Scott's paid to do,' Raynes told Radio Sheffield.

Well, yes, that's what he is paid to do but today he did it very well! With the Millers two-one up Oxford raced down and James Constable's shot looked like it was heading for goal when Shearer climbed over everyone and tipped the ball onto the post. It fell to Deane Smalley who shot at goal only for Shearer to get in a block. I'm quite sure if the visitors had scored then to make it two-all Millers' heads would have dropped and the most we'd have ended up with was a point. I wonder what the fan who phoned Radio Sheffield up earlier in the week and called Shearer 'Coco the Clown' is thinking tonight?

Raynor went on to say, 'We know how good Scott is and what he's capable of. He showed quick feet and it was a good tip onto the post and what was pleasing to see was that when he did that the defence were there to help out and are on the front foot which is something we talked about at half-time.'
