RUFC - Why No Nards?

Rotherham United fans have been getting a little bit exasperated when the team sheet has been read out for the last few games - and, even as we were walking into a flooded Crown Ground on Tuesday night and the tannoy announcer was naming the starting eleven, we still had time to turn and look at one another when, once again Daniel Nardiello was named on the subs bench.

The last game the former Exeter City striker started was the debacle at Port Vale and his last appearance was from the bench on 18th September against Rochdale when he actually gave the Millers the lead before the Dale scored another two to win.

Millers Manager Steve Evans says he 'believes` in the twenty-nine year old and he told Les Payne of The Star, 'He`s a terrific pro but he`s just got to work harder and deliver more consistency to be in the team.`

Consistency to a team that is being chopped and changed quite a bit?

The Millers Boss carried on, 'Players get picked on performances. If a striker gets a hat-trick one week, he gets picked the next - he could be ineffective in training but you believe in his performance. Daniel hasn't done enough at the minute to be in our starting line-up but we believe in him or he would not be here.`

Well, I know he probably doesn't know it, but Nards was Vital`s Man of the Match for the Port Vale game as well as being joint Man of the Match for the game against York City in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy loss.

Personally, I think there have some games that`s been crying out for Daniel Nardiello and I`d like to see him get a chance.

In eight appearances he`s scored three goals - wonder how many he`d have scored with more game time?
