RUFC - Evans thoughts turn to the New Year

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans is aiming to be in, or around, the play-off spaces at the turn of the year.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser the Millers Boss said that, if they do that, then they will be set-up for the second half of the season.

'Our start has been indifferent,` Steve said, 'but that is the signs of a team gelling together. You can`t put an entirely new squad together and hope to be flying in the early part of the season.

'There are teams in the top seven now who won`t be later on and other teams who will come through. Remember, Crewe were seventeenth in December last year and Swindon had a slow start.

'And, we know, we can only get better.`

I hear what the boss is saying and can understand it but we had such a brilliant start I think we all thought we were going to fly out of this league. And it hasn't been like that has it - and really, it can`t have been really. We've been unlucky with injuries but then again, didn't the management team say they would be changing things anyway? (Although I don`t except they meant putting a right-back in a left-back position).

One thing is for sure, we've got to start making some headway in our away games - points, as we all know, do make prizes.
