RUFC - Millers hoping to sort turnstiles out

Rotherham United`s Chief Operating Officer Paul Douglas says that the tailbacks at the turnstiles at the New York Stadium which is causing some fans to miss the kick-off is unacceptable.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser Mr Douglas said, 'We are exploring one or two avenues which we think might be the cause of the problem.

'We did our own tests and thought that people might have been putting the cards in the wrong way but we are now fairly convinced that the problem isn't down to familiarity, or the lack of it, with the new system.(Ed note - that's big of him!) We found that the bar code on the season ticket cards isn't always getting picked up and if a few people get caught up in the mechanism then it doesn't take long before the queues back-up.

'We don`t want people to be missing kick-off because of queues. We would like people to get into the habit of coming earlier and avoiding the rush but we accept that there are reasons that people can`t arrive in good time.

'We are doing our level best to get the matter sorted.`

I think we knew there would be 'teething problems' but, I've got to say, after the first week I didn't have a problem with my season ticket card but I do always try and get there well before kick-off, just in case!

And, to be honest, I do know people who took their season ticket cards back well before the season began because parts of the bar code was missing or blurred and they were told all would be OK - it wasn't! But, in my humble opinion, one of the main problems is that there aren't enough turnstiles.

And, if they want people to get there a little earlier, perhaps enjoy a pint and a pie at the ground as oppose to the pubs around, maybe they should think about putting their prices down?
