'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Raynor wants 'the motivator' back!

Rotherham United`s Assistant Manager Paul Raynor has made no secret of the fact that he can`t wait for Steve Evans to be back beside him in the dugout.

The Millers boss was hoping to be back for tomorrow`s game against Southend after serving a stadium ban but, because of the Accrington game being called off after their ground became a lake, he won`t be back in charge on match days until next Saturday at Aldershot.

'I know what a good motivator he is,` Raynes told David Beddows of The Advertiser. 'He whips the players up and gets them at it and you miss him when he`s not there because he`s the focal point and the leader and when you've not got your leader there it`s bound to have a knock-on effect.

'My strength isn't motivating it`s filling in the gaps tactically while trying to coach the team and help Steve. It`s easy for me to stand on the side and shout and bawl but he is a motivator and has been his entire career.

'He gets people playing and the quicker he can come back and galvanise these lads the better.`

A few of us have been saying the same thing. And it`s a reason I don`t like to see Managers` sitting in the stands at games. We all know what Steve Evans is like on the touchline and some laugh while others shake their heads at some of the antics he gets up to but there`s one thing for sure, he always, always gets his point over!
