'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Raynor 'it was woeful'

Rotherham United`s Assistant Manager Paul Raynor hinted this evening that 'heads would roll` after saying that today`s performance was far from being good enough.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the home defeat to Southend, Raynes said, 'The League Table doesn't lie after eleven games.

'Sometimes you can gloss over things but you can`t gloss over that performance today. It was woefully inadequate and there needs to be changes.

'The positive thing is that we are nowhere near where we want to be, yet we are only four points off the play-off places with a game in hand. When we do get it right, and we will, then we will be so much better. But we will need players that have desire and give effort and maybe some of them today need to look inside and see what they could have done better and if they are being honest they need to look at themselves in the mirror and see if they could have done more and I think they will know they could have done.

'We`ve got to be honest because we brought some of these players in but if they aren't good enough …. Until you get some of these people in the door you don`t know what sort of character they've got or if they've got the desire and want to do it the way you want to do it.

'We had seven or eight players today who were woefully below par and didn't work hard enough for the team.`

I think Paul Raynor will be glad to hand the reigns back to Steve Evans next week - it must have been difficult facing the press after today's poor performance.

Of course, if we'd have got the penalty when Odejayi was bundled to the ground when it was still nil-nil, maybe, just maybe, it might have been a different story?
