'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Evans 'big week for us'

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans is finally back with his team on Saturday at Aldershot after spending six games away from the ground under a stadium ban. But for the game at Accrington being called off at the last minute, the Millers Boss should have been in the New York dugout on Saturday - and a lot of fans are wondering if the drop in the Millers form has coincided with their Manager's ban.

Speaking to Millersplayer as he gets the Millers ready for the trip to Hampshire on Saturday, Steve said, 'It wasn't right that I wasn't with my team but there it is.

'It's a big week for us this week and we are disappointed from Saturday where the three characteristics of commitment, passion and effort were missing all over the pitch. The players have put their hands up and if it's a one off for the season we'll accept it and now we have to get focussed and ready for Aldershot.

'We had the players in yesterday, although, to be fair, they've been in quite a lot of Sundays and we looked at the DVD of the game and certain aspects of it. It's not very often you hear a squad of professional footballers using the word 'ashamed' but it was abundantly clear how they felt.

'But I will stand behind these boys because they can play and I think they've missed a leader and that's my responsibility, my fault and no one else`s, I was the one in front of the FA and I will have to live with that come the end of the season.'
