'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - 'Keeper Brands Manager A Lunatic!

Rotherham United goalkeeper, Scott Shearer has gone on record as saying that his Manager Steve Evans is a lunatic!

Speaking before the Millers Boss returns to the touchline on Saturday at Aldershot, after serving a six match stadium ban, which was something which he happened before he joined the Millers, the Glasgow born shot stopper told The Yorkshire Post, 'I'm sure he comes across as a head case on the sidelines and he is a lunatic but, in a one on one situation, he is a good guy to talk to.'

And perhaps, apart from assistant Paul Raynor, Scott probably knows Steve Evans better than anyone else at the club as the Millers boss has twice brought the thirty-one year old to a club he has managed, firstly to Crawley from Wrexham and then from Crawley to the Millers this summer.

And yes, the Manager does come across as a bit of a nutter on the sidelines and I know there were a lot of Millers fans dismayed when Chairman Tony Stewart brought him to the Millers but over the last six months the fans have warmed to the former Clyde, Albion Rovers and Ayr United striker.

Shearer carried on, 'Every manager has different methods and works in different ways. Steve`s passion rubs off on the team. He puts pressure on you to perform every time you go out there.'

Steve Evans is definitely a character in the game and, in my eyes, there aren't enough characters in English football at the moment - but do we want him as our 'character'? And have we missed him on the touchline during his enforced absence?
