RUFC - Evans Told Nards 'Go And Show Me'

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans told striker Daniel Nardiello to go out on Tuesday night and prove to him why he shouldn't be fetching in another striker.

And he did!

The fans have been asking the question 'why aren't we starting with Nards?` for the last few weeks and Evans answered by saying that he hadn't been showing him what he wanted in training.

Well, he`s started the last two games and we`ve won both, Nards scoring the two goals in the two-one win over Morecambe on Tuesday night.

Speaking to Les Payne of The Star the Millers Boss said, 'At half-time on Tuesday I told him he wasn't working hard enough. It wasn't a shouting, bawling, in your face confrontation, it was about bringing a striker in and people having to show me why I shouldn't. He put his shirt back on, had a drink of water and I shook his hand as he went out for the second half and said 'Go and show me`.

'Well, he showed me, didn't he? I love him.

'He`s a bright young man who probably beats himself up if he`s not playing or has been taken off. He`ll come and ask and I love that.`

Evans said that he is in a learning curve too admitting that perhaps a month ago he`d have taken Nards off at half-time. 'We, they, are learning about each other all the time. We`re getting there,` he said.
