'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Ex-Boss Wanted 'Keeper Out

Rotherham United goalkeeper Andy Warrington doesn't think he was treated fairly under former Manager Andy Scott.

Speaking as he prepares for his third consecutive game this afternoon the Millers favourite, Andy, told The Yorkshire Post, that Scott wanted him out of the club.

'He actually wanted me gone the previous summer,` the thirty-six year old shot stopper said, 'but I told him I wasn't prepared to go. I had a year left on my contract and I wasn't prepared just to sit on my contract, so I went into work every day trying to do my very best to get into the side, knowing full well that I wouldn't get into the side.

'I felt I didn't deserve the way I was treated last season but things can change round quickly in football and it`s been totally different with the new gaffer, he`s been spot-on with me and I also feel much more part of the club, as I did in years gone by, and as opposed to last season.`

Andy also said that, depending on his fitness, he believes he could play into his forties and, I for one, wouldn't disagree with him.

I think the fans knew last season that Andy Scott had his favourites and made it obvious that Woggy wasn't one of them when he kept fetching in 'keepers on loan and putting them before the former Millers number one. I know that Andy is only really in the side at the moment because of the injury to Scott Shearer but, in all honesty, I now think it`s his position to lose.

Twice being our Player of the Season I think a lot of Vital Rotherham poster and viewers have a bit of a soft spot for Andy Warrington and hope he`s at the club for many seasons to come.

Thanks for the honesty Andy, saying what we all "thought". The number of times we have professional people that tell us they know more better we fans do. We know that really its favouriteism. We have watched this game long enough to know. Why did it take the directors so long to realise how poor a judge he was?
