RUFC - Evans Will Continue To Bawl And Shout

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans says he is here to drive the players to their maximum.

Speaking on the back of what he arguably calls one of the best performances of the season away at Fleetwood, the Millers Boss told Les Payne of The Star, 'Some think shouting and bawling is over-reacting but if I was under-reacting then it would be saying 'I don`t give a damn`. Well I certainly do.`

I have to say some of us Millers fans do worry for Steve`s health when we see him rushing up and down the touchline, waving his arms about and shouting at the nearest player (I bet they hate running down the wing that the dugouts are on!) but we also have a chuckle when we realise that`s just who and what he is. It`s fueled by passion and as long as that passion is for us who are we to complain?

He`s publicly blamed skipper Ian Sharps for Fleetwood`s equalising goal on Tuesday night saying, 'Last season people pointed fingers at people and they weren't picked for six months after that. That`s not me. We point fingers then pick them again. On Tuesday, I blamed Ian Sharps for the goal, explained why, and he put his hands up and accepted it. But Ian Sharps was absolutely top drawer in that game and I`ll tell you what, Ian Sharps will be playing on Saturday.`

One of the questions on everyone`s lips has been about a new signing and Steve says, 'The type of player Steve Evans signs has to have a Steve Evans style of manager. I`m not going to bring players in if they can`t get into the team. That`s the benchmark - you have to be able to get in the team.`

Admitting that the Chairman has been pushing him to bring players in Evans carried on, 'I`m the stubborn b***er who`s saying 'no` because they aren't good enough or not the right character.`

Got to say I have to agree with the Manager there - in the last few seasons I think we`ve brought in players just for the sake of it and more often that not these players were no better than what we`d got sitting on the bench or in the reserves. So, Steve, stick to your guns and I`ll back you all the way with this one.
