RUFC - On This Day - 13 November

What were the Millers doing on this day in the past ....

13 November 2011

On this day last year the Millers found out that they would be playing Shrewsbury Town in the next round of the FA Cup after narrowly beating non-league side Barrow the day before.

13 November 2010

Two years ago the Millers entertained Oxford at Don Valley, a game which saw three goals in the first forty-five minutes. Adam Le Fondre opened the scoring on twenty-five minutes and got a second twelve minutes later while Simon Clist got a consolation for the visitors on the stroke of half-time.

After the win Millers Manager Ronnie Moore said it had been a 'good, positive performance.'

'I thought we showed a bit of commitment, a bit of effort, a bit of enthusiasm today and I think the crowd appreciated that and if I`d paid my money today, I`d have stayed behind and clapped them off as well,' he said.

Some bad news for the Millers on this day was that they found out that Danny Coid, who had just joined from Blackpool, wasn't able to play in the FA Cup replay with York because he hadn't been with the Millers for the original game.

13 November 2009

It was looking likely that Ronnie Moore would be offering Gary Roberts a deal until the end of the season after he did well in a reserve game a few days earlier. It was also thought that Moore was looking at Jim Goodwin the Huddersfield midfielder.

Moore was looking towards the Port Vale game tomorrow saying it would be tough but one he thought his team could win. (The Millers did win 2-1).

13 November 2008

The Millers were getting over a fourth round Carling Cup defeat to Stoke City and getting ready for a trip to Priestfield to take on Gillingham. Manager Mark Robins said he thought they were a little unlucky to lose to Stoke, who were twelfth in the Premiership, saying, 'It was always going to be a tough task at Stoke and, I think, if we had believed in ourselves a little more we could have got more out of the game. The turning point in the match was the unbelievable save the 'keeper made from Reuben Reid.'

13 November 2007

We found out on this day four years ago that Derek Holmes, who had been out with a broken foot, was about a week away from joining in training.

13 November 2004

Nine years ago the Millers entertained Wolverhampton Wanderers at Millmoor in the Championship. Martin McIntosh put the Millers one up on thirty-six minutes but goals in the second half from Kevin Cooper and Carl Cort game Wolves the win.

Mark Halsey was the referee that day and didn't show a card.

13 November 1993

The Millers lost to Stockport County on this day in 1993 two-one at Millmoor. Chris Wilder got the Millers goal from the penalty spot but Lee Todd and Andy Preece scored for the visitors.
