RUFC - Evans 'Rooney A Terrific Player'

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans says it will probably take two or three weeks before latest loanee Luke Rooney is up to speed.

The twenty-nine year old joined the Millers on loan from Swindon Town last week and played the first half of the defeat to Dagenham and Redbridge on Saturday.

'Luke Rooney has come here to play games but he has to be fit to play games,' the Millers Boss told MillersPlayer. 'He's done some intense work this week and will certainly be a lot fitter than this time last week and even fitter in two weeks time.

'He's a terrific player but has had a stop-start season. He got injured in pre-season and went to Burton where he got a back strain. He went back to Swindon and we brought him in knowing it would take a week or two to get him fit. If we'd have had a full personnel he'd have been able to sit and watch for a week or two while we got his fitness there but we've not had that luxury.

'He's more of a technical player but has pace and some wonderful ability on the ball but that won't come out until he's fully fit.'
