RUFC - Millers Hoping To Keep Frecks

Rotherham United are hoping to extend the loan period of midfielder Lee Frecklington.

The twenty-seven year old came on loan from Peterborough last month, starting all six games since he arrived and chipping in with three goals - one in the league and two in the FA Cup. Lee's loan period will cover the next two games which are both at home.

Speaking to MillersPlayer the Millers Boss Steve Evans said, 'Ultimately it's up to Darren Ferguson and Barry Fry whether they will extend his loan period. We've made it aware that we'd like to extend it but if it's a problem then we have other options.

'Frecks has made it clear that he'd like to stay here even though the likes of Chesterfield and two or three other clubs have enquired about him.'

Saying he thought the lad had done well since joining the Millers, Steve said, 'I thought he was brilliant at Fleetwood although he was like the rest at Dagenham which was rubbish but he never stopped trying.'

Asked if, due to the injury situation, there would be no players going out on loan, the Millers Boss said, 'We're sitting here counting numbers to see if we could put a proper bench together. Some of the other players will have to step up but it's not just the next two or three weeks when people will be coming back from injuries because in January the transfer market will be coming which gives you an opportunity to bring in and move people out. If people aren't going to step up now that we've got six, seven or maybe eight out injured then they won't be capable and if they aren't capable they'll have to go or go and train with the reserves.'
