'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Evans 'Thoroughly Deserved Victory'

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans had nothing but praise for his team yesterday as they came out four-two winners against Cheltenham Town.

Speaking after the win at New York, the Millers Boss told Radio Sheffield that it was a 'big performance.`

'I don`t think four-two reflects the scoreline,` Evans said, 'and if we`d have won by seven or eight that would have been a fair reflection of the balance of play. I thought we played some wonderful football.`

The Millers were one down within the first minute of the game with Evans saying, 'It was the worst possible start but I picked a team today based on passion, based on effort as well as ability and they gave us a tremendous response. We went three-one up and then they got back with a goal which, to me, was at least two yards off-side but I think that was indicative of things today. I don`t think we got any fifty/fifties today which is taking nothing away from the referee who is normally a very good official.

'We scored four good goals today and it was a thoroughly deserved victory with bounce-back-ability.
