RUFC - Nards Pleased With His Goals

Rotherham United forward Daniel Nardiello was delighted with his goals on Saturday and said he thought it was an entertaining game.

Speaking to MillersPlayer after the Millers beat Cheltenham four-two at home, the former Barnsley and Exeter striker said, 'I was really happy to get the two goals and that we got three points.`

Nards scored the Millers equaliser on four minutes on Saturday (although, for some unknown reason the announcer at the ground tried to give it to Lee Frecklington!) and then made it three-one twenty-five minutes later.

'The second was a good ball in by Morgs (Craig Morgan) and I managed to get a good first touch. I saw the defender coming and he threw himself at the ball and I managed to knock it past him and then I was one-on-one and it was a good goal. It`s nice to get chances like that and it got us in a good position in the game so I`m really happy.`

At that stage it was three-one but the Robins pulled it back to three-two which Nards thinks was maybe his fault, 'I should have kept the ball, ' the thirty year old said, 'but I tried to flick it on. But you make these mistakes and the lads dug in and we got the fourth and in the end I think it was a deserved three points to us.

' I've got seven goals now, though I could have had a few more with the chances I've had but hopefully I can stay in the team now, get more goals and we can push up the table.`

Asked about Manager Steve Evans, Nards said, 'He`s a good manager. He gets the lads going, he gets angry, shouts and balls but he gets a response from players. He had a go at me a couple of weeks ago and he says what he thinks but we have to respect him as a manager.`

A lot of us fans have been crying out for Nards when he`s not been in the team with Steve Evans saying he`d only play him when he was fit - well I thought he played great on Saturday and, hopefully, he will stay in the starting eleven because I think he`s a really good thinker both on and off the ball which, I believe, is what we need in this league.

What`s your thoughts on Nards?
