RUFC - Boss Delighted With Recent Signings

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans is delighted with the deals that he managed to do before the loan transfer deadline on Thursday.

Speaking about Craig Morgan who has signed an eighteen month extension to his original deal, the Millers Boss told MillersPlayer, 'What a signing. We knew when we first got him in it would take three or four weeks to get him up to speed and I am thankful to Paul Raynor who took charge of the plan to get him fully fit and Paul Warne and Denis Circuit have worked hard with him as well. Until his injury he was the best defender outside the Championship with his performances of late being inspirational. We won`t see him until around Christmas time but what a signing when he turns out again at Christmas.

'Our Chairman and Barry Fry at Peterborough were locked in talks regarding the Lee Frecklington deal for about two hours, although I imagine a lot of that time would be talking about making the deal permanent so, hopefully in a week or two, we will have Lee here on a permanent basis.

'Liam Ridehalgh is a good player and we tried to sign him earlier. He needed game time and went out to Chesterfield and did well there. He`s got a wonderful left foot and the supporters will like and respect him.

'Jack O'Connell came across my radar playing for the England Under 19 side and he`s been outstanding in the Blackburn Under 21/Reserve games. We tried to get him a little time back but the manager at that time didn't want him to come out and obviously a new manager came in and we made a move for Jack last weekend and it`s taken until minutes before the deadline to sort it. He`s a young man who can strike a good ball and he`s big, strong and aggressive and he`ll play for Blackburn Rovers in the Championship before the end of the season. I wish we`d have had him in July or August and we did try.

'We will look after the likes of Jack and Courtney (Cameron) like we did Josh (Morris) because you have to try and develop these boys at a very influential stage of their careers.`
