RUFC - Nards 'I'm Confident'

RUFC - Nards 'I'm Confident'

Rotherham United striker Daniel Nardiello scored not just the equalising goal for the Millers last night but also scored the winner - or did he?

The goal was scored at the start of the second half in front of most of the Millers travelling fans although they couldn't tell if he'd scored or it had taken a deflection. Sat in the stand on the side we were also baffled but when Nards took the plaudits decided it must have gone straight in.

Speaking after the win against Accrington the thirty-year old told MillersPlayer, 'You've got to claim everything and hope they give it you! I just got the ball out on the wing and the guys come running out so I got it past him and then I'm one-on-one with the full-back. I managed to get past him and tried to smash it across goal and it ended up in the back of the net.

'The first goal was an absolute gift. When I saw the defender was going to head it back I gambled a little bit and got a tap in.

'It was nice to get the second goal early in the second half and I was confident, once we went two-one up, that we'd win the game, but we did have to work hard to keep that scoreline.

'I'm glad we got the three points which is the main thing but it's nice to get on the score sheet as well. I just want to play games and I'm confident in myself that if I play games I'll score goals.

'To get two away wins and six points is excellent but we know we're capable of that and I think that we've shown what we can do in the last two games.

'We haven't had a brilliant start to the season but we're sitting in fourth place which says a lot. We've got to work hard as a team in training and in games. We believe in ourselves and we've got to keep on playing the way that we have in the last two games.'
