'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Evans Thanks Fans

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans wants to thank the Millers supporters and the passion they show.

Speaking to the Official Site the Millers Boss said that Saturday is another big day at the New York Stadium when the current league leaders Gillingham make the trip for the first time and hopes the fans turn out in their numbers.

'How good was our support against Notts County,' Evans said. 'It was incredible. And, if they don't realise it, our supporters need to know how big a part they play in helping the team. Together we can make this a fantastic season.

'It's another big test for us on Saturday and I'm sure Gillingham supporters will travel up in their numbers. It will be a good atmosphere and I have to say I really love the passion our Millers support has, all I can say is a big thank you to all of them from all the players and staff, it really is appreciated.'

I sit right in the middle of the family stand - which is on the half-way line just over half-way up and I am able to hear both sets of supporters singing and shouting but, I have been told, that in other parts of the ground it's difficult to hear certain sections of the stands. I'm a bit surprised at this with the ground being rounded and closed in. I have sat in the main stand on one occasion (when we were moved for the York City game - not sure how many they were expecting to have to move us!) but the crowd was a little sparse on the evening so I just presumed the non-singing/chanting was because of that - maybe it was because I couldn't hear them? Not sure what I could suggest other than giving a few of the singers a microphone each!

Thoughts on this anyone?
