RUFC - Groundsman Confident Game Will Go Ahead

Rotherham United`s Player Facilities Manager Dave Fellowes is confident that the game will go ahead on Saturday despite the minus temperatures of last night.

The covers went down yesterday afternoon and will stay down until Saturday.

Speaking to MillersPlayer Dave said, 'We`ve only managed to get a couple of days of prep and repair from Saturday`s game but the pitch is looking good and I`m very confident that the game will go ahead.

'Because we can`t do as much rolling and preparation as we usually do the presentation won`t be as I`d like it but as long as the game goes ahead and we get three points on Saturday that`s all that matters.

'We`ve had minus four temperatures over night and this morning and if we should get the forecasted snow then we`ve got a couple of days to clear it off and I can`t see there being an accumulation.`

Speaking about the covers, Dave said, 'They are worth their weight in gold and without them we wouldn't get the game on. Under-soil heating would be nice but the running costs are so expensive it`s hard to justify.`
