RUFC - Burton Not Fazed By Fans' Boos

Former Rotherham United striker Deon Burton says that the boos and jeers the Millers fans aimed at him on Saturday didn't bother him at all - in fact they spurred him on and he scored Gillingham's two goals that beat the Millers at the New York Stadium.

The Millers fans have been 'upset' with the thirty-six year old since he left the Millers to go to rivals Sheffield Wednesday mainly because of the way it happened which Burton said they should be over by now.

Speaking to Radio Kent the former Miller said, 'You'd have thought they'd have got over it. It was seven years ago. I'm old enough to not let it faze me. It didn't bother me in the slightest. You thrive on it. When they give you a bit of stick you want to give it back in the right way and I did that with the two goals.'

Meanwhile the Millers are to send footage of the 'key' incidents of the game which includes an alleged elbow by Burton on Millers skipper Ian Sharps which ended in Sharps having a broken nose which Millers Boss Steve Evans said should was worthy of a red card.

Speaking to the Official Site, Evans said, 'There was an elbow by Deon Burton on Ian Sharps which should not have gone unpunished, and there were a number of key incidents which didn`t go in our favour. There was a clear penalty for a foul on Alex Revell, whilst Liam Ridehalgh was also fouled when running into the box and towards the end of the game Ben Pringle also had a shot which was handled just outside the area, which should have been a free-kick.'
