RUFC - Chairman Has Good Relationship With Evans

Rotherham United Chairman Tony Stewart says that both the Board and the Manager have to realise that the club has to live within its means.

Mr Stewart took over the Millers over four years ago always saying that he saw owning a football club as a business. On his fourth manager in as many years, the owner of LSD Lighting has backed every one of them and has told David Beddows of The Advertiser that he wants to make sure that the ambitions and financial realities go hand-in-hand which means the club won`t be spending beyond it`s means.

This can only be a good thing for us, the fans, as we hear of so many clubs (including the Millers in the past) who have spent more than they have and are on the rocky road to ruin.

Speaking about current Manager Steve Evans the Chairman says, 'I have always supported my managers but I have a special relationship with this one. I am involved in a day-to-day rapport with him which I've never had before. It is very rare we miss a day without speaking and I feel I have more of a partner in business.`

I think since Evans was first brought in, much to a lot of the fans` disappointment at the time, he and Mr Stewart have been on the same wavelength. When in conversation with one or the other, the other is always mentioned and the Millers Boss is always thanking the Chairman in interviews for what he is doing at the New York Stadium.
