RUFC - O'Connell On His First Millers Start

Rotherham United's loanee Jack O'Connell said it was a bit strange playing at left-back yesterday.

On loan from Blackburn Rovers Jack made his first start for the Millers in the three-nil win over Notts County last night and did very well, bringing plaudits from manager Steve Evans after the game.

'I've never played at left-back before,' the eighteen year old told MillersPlayer, 'and it was tough as I'd not played many games and I came down with cramp so I did find it hard but I enjoyed it.'

Speaking about the Millers performance, Jack said, 'We played well but I didn't think they did and we caused them problems. There's a lot of quality here and I thought Revs (Alex Revell) was class today and Frecks (Lee Frecklington) can run all day. Playing alongside Johnny Mullins has helped me a lot tonight. He talked me through the game and was good today.

'We caught them a few times on the break tonight and maybe we could have been a bit more clinical but three goals away from home isn't bad is it?

'Hopefully I did well and I can get a start in the next game but we'll have to see what happens. I just want to enjoy it and get some experience because that's what I'm here for and to develop as a person as well.'
