RUFC - Chairman And Manager Praise For Each Other

Rotherham United Chairman Tony Stewart has nothing but praise for his Manager Steve Evans.

Evans is the fourth Manager under Mr Stewart, all of who he says he had a good relationship with, but I do think you can tell that he really thinks a lot about Steve Evans and Evans always has praise and thanks for the Chairman when you speak to him.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser Mr Stewart said, 'I am seeing players here now with skills and ability I've not seen before in my time at Rotherham and the same goes for the type of football we are playing.

'It`s a tribute to the Manager and backroom staff that we have players who do not only have the ability to play, but the energy and work ethic as well.

'Our gates have more than doubled which is fantastic and proves that the investment is working.`

Mr Stewart also spoke about the commitment Evans puts in saying, 'The guy puts a lot of time into football and yet he still finds time to go into the community and that is something that needs to be recognised.`

Meanwhile, Evans in his regular spot in The Advertiser thinks his Chairman should be knighted. 'Tony has not only saved the Millers, built the fantastic New York Stadium, employs hundred of people in the town but gives thousands of pounds to good causes too. He is a man who leads by example and I am certainly proud to work with him.`

The latest acquisition for the Millers is a new coach which the Millers Boss says is of Premier League standard. ' I've been asking the Chairman since July and he sanctioned it two weeks ago and, to be fair, we`ve done quite well since we`ve had it haven`t we?!`

I saw this coach at Wimbledon on Saturday - it`s like something out of Star Trek! As coaches go it`s certainly a thing of beauty but whether it makes the players play better, I`m not so sure about that! (And for all those travelling with ETC I've asked if we can have one too - unfortunately, the answer was a firm 'no'!)
